We are recruiting directly for a prestigious client in the industrial sector, for the position of Finance & Accounting Officer, based in the Setúbal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with Portuguese accounting, tax, and social security regulations;
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports;
  • Manage timely payroll submissions and statutory declarations;
  • Maintain accounting records in accordance with the Portuguese Accounting Standards (SNC);
  • Communicate effectively with the Certified Accountant and Group Financial Controller (UK).
  • Support the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance;
  • Coordinate the monthly payroll process, including collection of Time & Attendance data for submission to the external payroll provider;
  • Support invoice processing and Accounts Payable (AP) activities across the Group, including reconciliations and reporting;
  • Assist in preparing and submitting monthly VAT returns and annual filings (IES, Modelo 22);
  • Support the Group’s Credit Control process, including issuing customer statements and following up on outstanding payments;
  • Ensure proper document retention and financial record keeping;
  • Manage the finance email inbox, ensuring timely responses and resolution of queries;
  • Support internal and external audits, as well as any other tasks that contribute to the efficient running of the finance department.

  • Solid understanding of Portuguese accounting and tax principles;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken);
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounting role preferred;
  • Ability to work effectively within an international team.
