The unpredictability of the economy and social changes based on new generations, who no longer seek a “job for life” but rather a multitude of experiences, make temporary work increasingly important as a tool to aid in management and also as an instrument to aid in insertion and active job search.
How does Talenter™ select candidates to ensure the match between the client’s temporary need and the candidate?
As we are a company with 25 years of activity, we have an extensive and quite diverse database that allows us to have all profiles available for any client. During the year 2023, we implemented a new software that already uses AI as a basis for assisting in the screening of the best candidates for each need, and this has greatly benefited those who seek us out. Not only are we delivering candidates in the quantity needed, thus allowing our partners to choose, but most importantly, we are able to deliver candidates with better qualifications, which allows for a significant reduction in the time taken in a recruitment and selection process.
What specific opportunities or benefits does temporary work offer to client companies and to the workers themselves?
For those who seek us out, we offer a varied range of professional experiences that candidates can apply for, allowing them to analyze, over a short/medium period of time, the functions or tasks that best suit their profile, allowing them to opt for the one in which they felt best or identified the most. In cases of total alignment between employees and clients, the employee’s situation ends up changing, usually transitioning to a direct link with the client company. This should indeed be the purpose of temporary work, to provide the best experiences to candidates and clients in order to make the perfect match that allows both a more lasting stability, if they so desire.
What needs have been detected among Talenter™ clients that lead them to resort to temporary work?
The needs are related to the scarcity of qualified labor, which has probably been the biggest obstacle to economic growth in recent years, but also the need for companies to have recruitment processes that are swift and effective, avoiding having very dense internal HR teams with very high fixed costs. The other need is for effective flexibility that allows them to manage the constant unpredictabilities and fluctuations of the markets.
With a client portfolio of over 800 companies, how has Talenter™ approached the management of temporary talent for its clients?
We try to have a culture of closeness with all our employees, with weekly interactions at our clients’ sites and promoting Talenter™ as a company that cares for and pays attention to the lives of our employees beyond their professional activity. Within this scope, and as an example, during the year 2024 we will be promoting the Talenter™ employee day at our branches, rewarding those employees who have collaborated with us the longest and/or who stand out in the performance of their functions.
What areas or segments of client companies most often resort to temporary work?
Talenter™ works in 5 sectors of activity and in any of them there are numerous companies that resort to temporary work. Time-limited projects are the rule today, not the exception, which makes the use of temporary work also more frequent and normal. For example, which construction project lasts forever? Or which event lasts forever? Or which promotional campaign lasts forever? In any sector of activity, uncertainty, change, and continuous transformation are a reality that cannot be dissociated from the need to resort to temporary work. Moreover, temporary work is increasingly perceived as a management model that guarantees not only quality recruitment but also full respect for workers’ rights, avoiding situations of freelance contracts that tend to bring problems and complications in the medium term.
What are the challenges faced by Talenter™ in trying to ensure the satisfaction of both clients and temporary talents?
From the clients’ perspective, we try to ensure that candidates are as well-matched as possible with the desired profiles, in order to minimize turnover and consequent loss of time. When the candidate becomes an employee, Talenter™’s role is to constantly monitor them and request feedback from the client on their performance. The more information we have about the employee and the client, the closer we are to safeguarding their satisfaction.
From the workers’ perspective, especially for new generations, how do they view temporary work, considering that they know the bond is more fragile?
New generations have a very different perception of work from what we or our parents and grandparents had. Today, work has to be something that values, fulfills, and has a purpose, and not just a means of paying bills at the end of the month. In this sense, new generations need to experiment with new areas, new jobs, new projects, and this can easily be found in a temporary work company.
How do temporary workers view the component of professional development, considering that they have a previously established work period?
Professional Training is mandatory, even in the context of temporary work. At Talenter™, in addition to what is provided to employees by the clients, we also promote the prior training of candidates. We have 5 active academies and in all of them we train and try to qualify talent, even before employees enter the job market.
What are the trends or changes in the job market that can affect the temporary work sector?
Any radicalization of labor code laws will have obvious consequences for temporary work and the economy. On one hand, excessive protectionism could turn temporary work into an expensive tool and thus remove flexibility from hiring, while on the other hand, excessive liberalization of the labor market could make it less necessary.
In your opinion, does temporary work make more sense for a market increasingly oriented towards people who want goal-based work and multiple projects, rather than the traditional “lifetime job”?
It is through this lens that temporary work can continue to be a good solution for candidates and clients. Anything that offers more flexible solutions, with more opportunities and different experiences, will be closer to the new generations, their causes, and life purposes.
What advice does Talenter™ give to temporary workers to maximize their future employment opportunities and professional growth?
Try to find an organization that values the same life principles and professional balance, that challenges you permanently, but that respects your space and personal life. Then, be honest, ambitious, and have character. Learn something you like and that motivates you, be humble and patient. Time will take care of valuing those who truly deserve it.
